Under the background of China’s rural revitalization strategy, rural tourism has become a hot topic. To promote the Chinese culture’s “go global” strategy, research on rural tourism translation should not be neglected.Written by Li Jun,a researcher at the Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences,China’s Rural Tourism in the New Era has discussed rural tourism in Western Sichuan in a multi-angle way.Combined with the practices in Sichuan, this book has deeply and systematically researched rural tourism under the new historical condition.Translating this book is helpful for sharing Chinese experience and promoting Chinese culture. This translation report selects chapter 8 of the book as the translation material.Contents of this chapter include regional culture characteristics of the Western Sichuan linpan, protection and development and utilization of the Western Sichuan linpan, and rural tourism development model of Western Sichuan linpan. The ancient Chinese quotes and culture-loaded words in the source text lead to difficulties in this translation practice.Hu Gengshen’s Eco-translatology combines ecology with translatology. The theory holds that the translator should make selective adaptions in eco-translational environment, and then make adaptive selections to achieve translation. This paper takes Eco-translatology as the theoretical guidance and adopts its “three-dimensional transformation” as the translation method, and analyzes adaptive transformation in the translation cases from the three dimensions, namely linguistic dimension, cultural dimension, and communicative dimension. For instance, the transformation from the cultural dimension requires the translator to adapt to the cultures of both the source language and the target language before selection, which is helpful for dealing with culture-loaded contents in this practice, and the cultural connotations of the source text can be delivered to the target readers.Based on the translation practice, the translator finds out that the“three-dimensional transformation” of Eco-translatology can be effectively applied in rural tourism translation.During the practice, the translator has accumulated valuable translation experience and learned much knowledge about rural tourism. The translator hopes this paper can be a useful reference for future practice of rural tourism translation and help Chinese culture to go global.
