| This thesis is a report based on the consecutive English-Chinese interpreting practice of a documentary.The source materials are selected from the first three episodes of the first season of the National Geographic documentary series A Bird’s Eye View of Europe.This documentary adopts the latest UAV aerial photography technology,from a unique perspective,with the time of the year and the change of the four seasons,introduces the characteristic architecture and local customs of European countries.The interpreter finds several major difficulties in the interpreting practice,namely,the problem of new words and familiar words with obscure meanings,the problem of translationese and the problem of unclear logic of the target language.Through post-translation reflection,the interpreter summarizes the corresponding strategies.For the problem of new words and familiar words with obscure meanings,the interpreter adopts context analysis method and fuzzy interpreting method.For the problem of translationese,three methods are used: passive to active,static to dynamic,literal translation to free translation.To solve the problem of unclear logic of the target language,the methods of logic manifestation and longer sentences to shorter ones are adopted.Finally,this thesis summarizes the interpreter’s understanding and experience of the interpreting practice,in the hope that this thesis can play a certain role in the interpreting practice of peers and the interpreter in the future. |
