The Production-oriented Approach was created by a research team led by Professor Wen Qiufang.In response to the drawbacks of "separation of learning and use",a theoretical system including teaching concepts,teaching assumptions,and teaching processes was constructed and gradually applied to international Chinese language teaching.It has been proven to be operable and effective in international Chinese language teaching.However,less attention has been paid to the application and effectiveness of The Production-oriented Approach in advanced Chinese comprehensive courses in shortterm Chinese language training courses.Based on the analysis of the questionnaire for advanced Chinese language learners in short-term Chinese language training courses,it can be seen that The Production-oriented Approach has the feasibility of applying it to advanced Chinese comprehensive courses in the early,middle,and late stages of teaching.Based on the output oriented approach,this article conducts a case study of instructional design,clarifying the similarities and differences in teaching elements between experimental and control classes with comparable Chinese proficiency.It selects the text "Days Without Mobile Phones" from HSK Standard Tutorial 6 for specific instructional design analysis and teaching reflection.During the 13-week teaching period,pre test,mid test,and post test were conducted for the experimental class and the control class.Student scores at each stage were collected and data were collected.SPSS software was used to analyze the scores of the experimental class and the control class at each stage,both horizontally and vertically.From the analysis of performance and student feedback,it can be seen that The Production-oriented Approach can more significantly improve students’ Chinese proficiency in the advanced Chinese comprehensive course of short-term Chinese language training courses.
