| With the improvement of the economy and people’ s living standards in China, tourism has developed rapidly. The acceleration of globalization has further promoted the demand for outbound tourism, and tourist texts have become important information resources for tourism practitioners and tourists. Therefore, the translation of tourist texts is of great significance. This report extracts part of Lonely Planet:Thailand and conducts translation under the guidance of eco-translatology.Based on the analysis of relevant cases,it introduces the translation methods and translation strategies adopted in the translation project from three dimensions of language, culture and communication. In linguistic dimension, three translation strategies, including selection of words, transformation of sentences and conversion of rhetoric are adopted. In cultural dimension, translation strategies of foreignization and domestication are adopted. In communicative dimension, the author mainly adopts the translation strategies of addition, omission and rewriting.By adopting different translation strategies, the author strives for a more faithful translation and effectively realizes the three-dimensional transformation. This report discusses the applicability of eco-translatology in the E-C translation of tourist texts and mainly concludes with three major findings.First of all,the translation strategies in linguistic dimension of ecotranslatology are applicable to the translation of tourist texts. The related strategies guided the author to conduct the translation with accurate language and beautiful rhetoric.Secondly, under the guidance of transformation in the cultural dimension, the translator could understand the cultural connotations involved in the tourist texts more effectively, which helps to convey the cultural meanings of the source texts.Thirdly, the translation strategies in communicative dimension can guide the translator to fully consider the reading preferences of target readers, improve the readability of the tourist texts and eventually fulfill the purpose of communication.Under the guidance of eco-translatology,the translator needs to integrate the three-dimensional transformation, including language, culture and communication to achieve more accurate and equivalent translation outputs. The encountered translation problems and corresponding translation strategies are summarized in the report in order to provide a useful reference for future translation work in the tourism field. |
