The theme of "clown" has a long history,and the shadow of "clown" can be found in both traditional Chinese opera and medieval pantomime in Europe.In the early 20 th century,"clowns" also became a source of inspiration for artists and became popular.With the diversified development of social culture,clown culture has gradually declined due to various factors,and artistic works with clown themes have also lost their former glory.The current art works with the theme of "clowns" often only imitate and reproduce the shape and image of clown characters,failing to express the huge emotional contrast between "sadness" and "joy" carried by "clowns".Based on this,the author collects and conducts in-depth analysis of the culture of clowns,taking various emotions such as "sadness,joy," "strangeness," and "melancholy" possessed by "clowns" as the core of their creation,using ceramics as the main material to present.In their graduation thesis,the author delves into the inspiration of the emotional connotations of the "clown" theme for creation.This paper contains four chapters,the first chapter takes "clown" as the background of the topic,analyzes and sorts out the theoretical research status of this topic,and expounds the research purpose and significance of the article;the second chapter introduces the origin of the clown,the classification of the clown;specific analysis.Through the analysis of clown culture,clown culture background and research status,the theoretical basis and spiritual expression of clown culture are summarized and refined,and then the creation is conducted through theoretical guidance and practice,and more attention is paid to the spiritual expression of works in the creation.
