| Liang Shuming,formerly known as Huan Ding and Shou Ming,was a famous modern Chinese thinker.He is known as "the last Confucianist in China" and has worked hard throughout his life to find out the fundamental goals of life and the problems of Chinese society.This thesis focuses on the metaphysical to historical logic of Liang Shuming’s cultural outlook by examining his writings and the research findings of the academic community on Liang’s East-West cultural outlook,using the cultural philosophical perspectives of cultural vision and cultural styles,cultural emergencies and cultural restructuring,cultural crisis and cultural transformation,cultural outlets and cultural practices.The first chapter of this paper focuses on the background and ideological history of Liang Shuming’s East-West cultural outlook,which was formed against the backdrop of a cultural crisis and a national crisis,and his ideological history has undergone a transformation from a reverence for utilitarianism to Buddhist thought to Chinese Confucianism;The second chapter explains the theoretical dimension of Liang Suming’s view of culture,which rejects the prevailing view of culture at the time and proposes three cultural models based on intention,namely,intention to demand forward,intention to reconcile and hold centre,and intention to turn backwards;The third chapter analyses Liang Suming’s East-West cultural perspective in a realistic dimension,describing the historical logic and cultural crisis of East-West India;Chapter 4 focuses on the basic elements of the cultural outlet and theory of village construction proposed by Liang Shuming;Chapter 5 reviews Liang’s East-West cultural perspective in terms of both its significance and its limitations.Liang’s East-West cultural perspective not only opens up new perspectives in the study of Eastern and Western cultures,but also,for the first time,places Chinese culture within the framework of world culture on an equal footing,and inherits and develops Confucian culture,although his ideas are subjective and suffer from disadvantages such as bias,the significance of his East-West cultural perspective cannot be denied. |
