As higher education is an important symbol of a country’s development level and potential,we should improve philosophical thinking on major issues of higher education. The text of this translation report is selected from The Philosophy of Higher Education: A Critical Introduction(Chapters 9-10).In these chapters, the two concepts, teaching and curriculum in higher education, are discussed from the perspectives of philosophy, including epistemology and ontology. After that, the author further explores teachers’ tasks, the relationship between research and teaching, critical teaching and so on.The study aims to deal with lexical difficulties by using textual cohesion translation, annotation and transposition.Literal translation, omission translation,part-of-speech conversion are mainly used to achieve semantic equivalence between bilinguals especially in terms of compound structures with hyphenation. In discourse cohesion, reference and implicit cohesion that includes personal reference and demonstrative reference are mainly analyzed, and the translation methods used cover amplification, omission and restoration of nouns for pronouns.Besides, the translation of figures of speech is also considered in it.
