A Study Of Character Identity In Artisan-Themed Documentaries

At present,China’s economy has shifted from the stage of high-speed growth to the stage of high-quality development,building a strong manufacturing country,to further implement the strategy of strengthening the country,it is necessary to focus on the spirit of craftsmanship.As one of the physical carriers of the artisan spirit and the "apparatus" that can best map its essence,documentaries on artisan subjects should play an intrinsic value.The audience’s identity of artisans is a clear recognition of their professional attributes,spiritual essence and behavioral characteristics.Based on the unique advantages of documentary film,the theme and emotion are conveyed by the richly layered picture language,and the identity of the artisan group is promoted by the external display of artisan skills and the artisan spirit,and finally the audience’s recognition and understanding of the artisan group is achieved.The paper is divided into four chapters.The introductory part compares the current research status and background of artisan documentaries and identity theory and other related theories,and introduces the research methods.The first chapter defines the identity of characters in artisan documentaries and analyzes the core values embodied in the identity in detail.The second and third chapters are the core contents,which promote the audience’s identification with the artisans from the audiovisual presentation of the characters’ external "craftsmanship" and the internal "craftsmanship" spirit of the characters.The fourth chapter considers and prospects the identity and heritage of artisan documentaries.The paper argues from sociological theory and audiovisual research on the possibility and necessity of audience identification with the characters in artisan documentaries,and gives certain application strategies to add new thoughts to the research on identity in documentaries.
