As a kind of ecological landscape,Chinese classical gardening is deeply rooted in the soil of traditional culture, and are able to reflect the landscape concepts and ecological values of the ancient Chinese.Owing to her favor in numerous garden works in the Ming Dynasty, the translator selected Chapter Seven in Part Ⅰ of Cao Lindi’s Chinese garden culture as the source text for this translation task, with the purpose to spread the rich ecological thoughts and classical garden culture contained in garden works. This translation report is based on the author’s translation practice with Eco-translatology as the theoretical perspective.By interpreting the English translation of this garden text,it explores the translator’s adaption and selection in the process of textual transplanting and reconstructing from the three dimensions of language, culture and communication so as to carry out the implementation of the "life-oriented" principle and"life consciousness" of the text.Through the translation practice and specific case analysis, the research shows that the translator as the subject of translation activities should adhere to the holistic principle of translation, pay more attention on the ecological connotation of the text, and skillfully adopt appropriate translation methods to reconstruct the textual ecology,so as to realize the balance between the source text and the target text in the spheres of language ecology, culture ecology as well as communication ecology.Under the background of "taking Chinese culture on the global stage",it is an important way for translators to fulfill the mission of cultural transmission by the in-depth interpretation of the cultural characteristics of Chinese classical gardens.
