On C-E Translation Of Chinese Tea Culture-loaded Words

The material selected for this project is The Hometown of Chinese Dark Tea.A large number of distinctive Chinese tea culture-loaded words appear in the project material The Hometown of Chinese Dark Tea,and those Chinese tea culture-loaded words contain rich historical and cultural information about tea,and professional information about tea.Therefore,those Chinese tea culture-loaded words become the focus and difficulty of this translation practice.According to Nida's classification of culture and characteristics of Chinese tea culture-loaded words in The Hometown of Chinese Dark Tea,this thesis classifies those culture-loaded words into five categories:(1)linguistic culture-loaded words of Chinese tea;(2)social culture-loaded words of Chinese tea;(3)religious culture-loaded words of Chinese tea;(4)ecological culture-loaded words of Chinese tea;(5)material culture-loaded words of Chinese tea.Based on “translation theory of adaptation and selection” of eco-transtology,this thesis explores in three dimensions the translation techniques of Chinese tea culture-loaded words in The Hometown of Chinese Dark Tea:(1)“Adaptation and selection” in linguistic dimension: It is mainly for linguistic culture-loaded words,which can take translation techniques of omission and abstraction;(2)“Adaptation and selection” in cultural dimension:It is mainly for social culture-loaded words and religious culture-loaded words.For social culture-loaded words,it can take the translation technique of paraphrase.For religious culture-loaded words,it can take the translation technique of addition;(3)“Adaptation and selection” in communicative dimension: It is mainly for ecological culture-loaded words and material culture-loaded words.For ecological culture-loaded words,it can take the translation technique of concretization.For material culture-loaded words,it can take the translation technique of correspondence.
