| With China’s further advancement in the internationalization,cities in this land nowadays start to construct their own official English websites.As the main means for foreign exchange and publicity,the official English websites of Zhangjiajie and Ningxiang City play a crucial role in disseminating Hunan culture,establishing Hunan images and attracting foreign investment.This thesis is a Chinese-English(C-E)translation report with the source texts selected from some local governmental websites in Hunan Province.These news reports mainly cover the tourism,culture and economy of both cities.In addition,this report is based on the author’s news translation practice at China Daily Hunan Office,and the news materials in this paper are translated by the author,which are further improved by experienced proofreaders.Therefore,this report boasts higher level of feasibility and practicability.In combination of the characteristics of Chinese news and English news as well as the readership,it aims to analyze the typical problems in translating the news headlines,leads and bodies of the news from local official English websites.Under the guidance of Peter Newmark’s Communicative Translation,the author attempts to offer some feasible solutions for the above-mentioned difficulties as follows:the translation of news headlines,where omission and rewriting are adopted;the translation of news leads,where omission and reconstruction are employed;the translation of news bodies,where omission,amplification and reconstruction are used.Therefore,this report contributes to providing some references for relevant translators and promoting the construction of local official English websites in China.The author has harvested a lot from this internship,whose translating capability and understanding of news and news translation have been promoted and deepened.She finds that news translation not only highlights on accuracy and conciseness,but strives to deliver the source text in a way that is acceptable to the target readers and facilitates information transmission. |
