| Interpreting is an important way to facilitate intercultural communications for human beings,and it has almost developed along with the evolution of languages.Nowadays,with the acceleration of globalization,the world is becoming more and more closely connected,the demand for intercultural communication is increasing,the communicative function of interpretation is more prominent,and interpretating activities in different types and fields are various.In recent years,the game industry has been developing rapidly and the game production technology has become more and more complex.China’s development in this field is still insufficient and there is still a lack of representative game works.This report is an English-Chinese simulated interpreting practice report.The selected material is a presentation given by Tobias Kleanthous at the Game Developers Conference 2021,“Making the Believable Horses of ‘Red Dead Redemption II’”,which elaborates on the process of making horses in the game and has great learning significance for game makers in China.In this practice report,the author introduces the interpreting task,and then elaborates on the whole process of the interpreting activity,including the preinterpreting preparation,while-interpreting process and post-interpreting evaluation.The author has encountered a series of problems in the simulation practice,such as:high information density and highly technical content,the fast-speaking flow and some of the words were not pronounced clearly,which leads to a lack of understanding of the content and affects listening.Through Gill’s Effort Model,the author tries to find corresponding solutions for problems that arise in the simulated interpreting.This report serves as guidance for the author’s own interpreting study,and the author also hopes to add her own experience and reflections to the field of technical interpreting of games and improve the quality of games in China. |
