| The broad impact of EQ on social life and its own contradictions constitute a problem in the sociology of knowledge perspective.Emotional Quotient(EQ)is a product of the popularization of psychological emotional Intelligence(EI)theory,and after its content departed from the discipline,the concept of EQ in the form of popular books was excluded from mainstream psychological research as a fallacy and commercial hype.EQ is examined under the perspective of the sociology of knowledge constructivism,and Foucault’s archaeological methodology of knowledge is applied as an analytical tool to investigate the process of constructing the concept of EQ.The process of constructing EQ goes through two stages;the first stage is the transformation of the doctrine of emotional intelligence,which is the predecessor of EQ,from a disciplinary to a general discourse order,and the general emotional intelligence is the direct source of EQ;the second stage is the application practice of EQ in certain social contexts,where a part of social factors determine the specific content of EQ,forming a secondary construct.Based on the analytical process to explore the external flexibility of this concept and the internal mechanism of integration.In the study of the formation process of EQ,the demarcation point of the flow of emotional intelligence from the discipline to the generality is examined through the discourse formation analysis method,and the 1997 competence model theoretical framework and the hybrid model theoretical framework are selected for comparative analysis.The specific operation is carried out in four ways: object formation analysis specifies the position of emotional intelligence in the discourse network by sorting out the background of psychological development before the emergence of emotional intelligence-the combination of emotion and cognition and in the counterpart of traditional intelligence;concept formation analysis presents disciplinary and popular flow through the two theoretical frameworks of emotional intelligence statement model,rhetorical model The concept formation analysis presents the differences in the expression of the boundaries between disciplinary and generalist discourse through the comparison of the declarative and rhetorical models of the two theoretical frameworks of emotional intelligence.The reason for the difference in the rules of formation description the effective space of disciplinary discourse determines the proposer of emotional intelligence and the co-construction of emotional intelligence with peer criticism based on psychological systems that integrate a new concept into the original body of knowledge,while popular readings are not affected.The popular features presented by the mixed model under differential comparison showed a tendency to expand in EQ.In the analysis of the application of EQ,EQ is restricted to the context of the workplace,and relevant newspaper articles are collected as research objects.The EQ discourse consists of four elements: abstract definition,realistic performance,result-oriented,and institutionalized application.The picture of EQ knowledge is described by clustering and organizing the coded discourse and categorizing and discussing different workplace roles as objects.EQ is not uniformly defined,with traces of theory but mostly misquoted or incomplete,and today’s EQ cannot be equated with a continuation of the hybrid model,but rather a reconstructed one rooted in specific contexts.The evaluation of EQ performance presents differences across workplace roles,the elements that are included in the evaluation of emotional intelligence correspond to different role functions,and the orientation of emotional intelligence to realistic outcomes confirms this.The institutionalized application of EQ brings the differentiated EQ of different roles within the institutional control and basically covers the HRM system.The above two stages of exploration indicate the process of constructing EQ.EQ is a kind of situational knowledge,which itself is an open inventory that constantly incorporates certain non-intellectual explanatory factors of realistic outcomes;the specific content of EQ in the application process is the result of a secondary construction,and under the conditions of a given organization and a clear role object,the inventory without boundaries adapts to this presupposition being specified as limited content. |
