In the UK,Jews have a long history. The first record of a Jewish community in England is in 1070 when William the Conqueror brought Jews to England. After nearly a thousand years of development,Jews have played a pivotal role in Britain. As an important branch of the world’s Jews,British Jews have a close and complex relationship with Israel.Through the introduction of the development history and current situation of British Jews, this paper analyzes the identity of British Jews to the Jewish community, explores the changes in the Jewish community’s attitude towards Israel, and deeply analyzes the reasons for the changes in British Jewish attitudes and their impact. This article consists of four parts:The first part mainly introduces the history and current situation of British Jews.First,it introduces the development of British Jews in the Middle Ages, then discusses the political, economic and social changes of British Jews since modern times and the influence of the two world wars on them, and finally discusses the development status of British Jews after World War II.The second part mainly analyzes the changes in the attitudes of British Jews towards Israel. From the British mandate, the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948,to the various wars that occurred after the founding of the state, all of them have attracted the attention of British Jews.British Jewish groups actively visit Israel, provide financial assistance to Israel, and support Israel’s development. However,by the end of the twentieth century, the attitude of British Jews towards Israel changed. They no longer enthusiastically supported Israel, but chose to rationally distance themselves from Israel. The third part mainly analyzes the reasons for the change of British Jewish attitude towards Israel. The founding of Israel attracted close attention from the British Jews, who kept their eyes on the nascent Jewish state. The victory of the Six-Day War made British Jews’ impression of Israel greatly changed. They began to recognize Israel and were proud of it,and supported Israel in many ways.At the end of the twentieth century, with the continuous strengthening of Israel,British Jews were divided and dissatisfied with Israel’s foreign policy and the many problems existing in Israeli society.Attitude, began to rationalize Israel and even alienated Israel. The fourth part summarizes the influence of British Jews on Israel’s changing attitudes. The concern, support and rational alienation of British Jews to Israel not only affects the self-positioning of British Jews in the UK,but also affects their relationship with Israel. As they continued to integrate into British social life, their loyalty to the Jewish people, especially to Israel, changed. While British Jews are loyal to Israel, their criticism of Israel is also increasing. They begin to transcend their sense of belonging and participate in Israel’s affairs moderately, and finally seek a balance between the British Jewish homeland and Israel.
