Creative Design Of The Image Of Vaisravana In Chinese Folk Beliefs

Buddhism has brought the introduction of Vaisravana into China.Since the Northern and Southern Dynasties,Vaisravana has been deeply integrated with Chinese traditional culture,which had gradually evolved into a folk belief with great influence during the Tang Dynasty.Under the culture impact of western city states,with the main feature of urban patron saint as well as the functions of praying for wealth and blessing,it has become a significant complex God image.In the Central Plains,Vaisravana was worshipped as a "God of War" and a patron saint.With the identity of a "God of War" and a patron saint,it has protected the northwest region.As the Buddhism had been widely popularized in Chang’an society in the Tang Dynasty,it had brought a profound impact on its divine personality and image.By conducting the investigation,it is found that no cultural and creative design with the content of Vaisravana in Chang’an of Tang Dynasty exists at home and abroad.There also exist some problems,such as the single theme of cultural and creative design with the extension of Chinese culture to overseas,the taking of most of the auspicious animals represented by dragons for the theme,the insufficient content of derivative cultural and creative products,the lack of abundant cultural elements extracted by cultural and creative design and so on.In line with the material analysis,it is found that the image of Vaisravana in Chang’an of the Tang Dynasty has rich cultural and creative connotation.The excavation of this theme can help further promote the influence of China’s cultural and creative industry at home and abroad.In this topic,the process of Sinicization of Vaisravana in Chinese folk beliefs will be studied,the discussion on the application of modern design techniques to reflect the contemporary artistic expression value of the image of Vaisravana is conducted,the attempt to reveal the profound influence of Vaisravana on contemporary Chinese society is made,and the cultural significance contained in the image of Vaisravana is explored.In this way,the contents and forms in the process of Chinese culture export can be enriched,the folk culture creative brands can be established,and the diversity of Chinese culture communication can be broadened.
