| Since the 21st century, our country’s Marine Corps has developed rapidly with continuous exploring and learning.Whether in the past or in the future, relevant English literature of Marine Corps plays an indispensable role in the development of our country’s military power. However, the discourses about the analysis of the Marine Corps operations, management and other aspects are in a large proportion, while the ones about translation of EST(English for Science and Technology)in Marine Corps are numbered so that there is still a lack of literature for learning and reference.Under the guidance of the Unstructured Cohesion Theory proposed by Halliday and Hasan, this article selects examples of translation of some chapters in the"Marine Corps Safety Management System",analyzes the cohesion methods used in the text, and the corresponding translation techniques, and aims to ensure as much as possible the accuracy and fluency of the translation. This article analyzes the cohesive means used in the original text from two aspects:grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion, including reference, substitution, ellipsis, conjunction, reiteration, and collocation, and lists the corresponding translations techniques based on the original text, including amplification, simplification, deep semantic correspondence, and inferring the meaning based on the context. The coherence and readability of the translation can be better realized by analyzing the cohesive means used in the original text and adopting corresponding translation techniques. This translation text can be used for the study of our country’s navy, and it can also be referenced during the research of scientific and technological texts, which is of great significance to the development of our country’s Marine Corps. |
