| In the late Qing Dynasty,with the transformation of society and translation orientation,western psychology was introduced into China.Based on corpus,this thesis adopts quantitative and qualitative research on the translation of western psychology in late Qing’s newspapers and periodicals.And the contributing factors are discussed from the perspective of field theory.In the quantitative analysis,five main characteristics of translation and introduction can be summarized.Firstly,the quantity,growth rate,content,source,language and the nature of newspapers and periodicals all show different features in different stages.Secondly,regional concentricity serves as another prominent characteristic.Shanghai is the center of cultural activities including the founding and distribution of publications.Thirdly,Chinese intellectuals are the subject of translators and editors.Fourthly,the language style,translation purpose,identity and experience of the translators have similarities to an extent.Finally,Japan plays an intermediary role in the process of western learning spreading to the East.In the qualitative research,the initial stage of translation of western psychology considers term translation and emphasis on significance as the mainstream.In the development stage,the establishment of psychology course and introduction of thought transition of western psychology are representative characteristics.In the prosperity stage,the translation is characterized by the expansion of research objects,physiological interpretation,more specific theories and branches,expansion of application fields and scopes and diversification of communication and interaction methods.According to Bourdieu’s field theory,the contributing factors of the characteristics of translation and introduction can be analyzed.Under the influence of multiple field factors and habitus,translators and other translation practice participants can take advantage of economic capital,cultural capital,social capital and symbolic capital to participate in translation activities. |
