A Practice Report On The E-C Translation Of Making Our Way Home:The Great Migration And Black American Dreams (Experts)

The report is based on the translation of Making Our Way Home: The Great Migration and the Black American Dream.It is a new book written by Blair Imani,a black American female writer,in 2020.The book shows the history of Black Americans from the 1970 s to the present by telling the stories of the celebrities in this period.In 1966,French translation theorist Jacques Derrida challenged structuralism that had long dominated the top layer in academics,heralding the birth of deconstructive translation theory.This translation theory separated the links between the original text and the translated one,between the author and the translator,emphasized the elimination of sameness and the display of the difference between the signifier and the signified.It also made the translation studies re-examine the subjectivity of the translator.Under the guidance of the core ideas of the deconstructive translation theory,such as “differance”,“supplement”,and “intertextuality”,this translation report mainly adopts morphological shift,lexical conversion,sequential reorganization and amplification as the specific translation methods to fully interpret the logical relationship of the two languages with some classical cases in the first three chapters of the original text,and to ensure the accuracy and readability of the Chinese translation.This translation practice proves that the deconstructive translation theory is applicable to and instructive for the translation practice of non-literary texts on history topics.This translation practice report would enrich the target language readers’ understanding of black American history and can provide more references for the study of deconstructive translation theory.
