Although adventure novels are imaginary in plot, they can reflect current social realities to a certain extent. The spirit to explore the world under this theme is of great significance to the shaping of young people’s personality and correct values living in the new era.The source text for this translation practice is from chapters seven to twelve of Miss Benson’s Beetle by Rachel Joyce, which mainly describes what Margery Benson and her assistant Enid Pretty experienced on their journey to New Caledonia when they are disappointed in life after the World War II.Based on the translation of the selected chapters, this paper analyzes and explores a guiding role applied in the Chinese translation of adventure literature.Under the guidance of relevance translation theory, the author adopts the case analysis method to elaborate translation examples from lexical, syntactic and textual levels for analysis, and summarizes some translation methods and skills for various translation difficulties. At the lexical level, the author mainly analyzes the application of the semantic extension of concepts, conversion and semantic restoration. At the sentence level, the author mainly analyzes the application of inversion, addition and splitting. At the level of discourse, the author mainly analyzes the consistency of discourse content and logical coherence through the combination of addition and omission to show tortuous stories and characteristics of different figures.By using the translation methods and techniques above, the author tries to find the best correlation between the original text and the target text,so as to ensure a better translation effect. Therefore, the author believes that relevance translation theory is feasible and applicable in the process of translating adventure literature into Chinese. In addition, the author gets improved from this translation practice and hopes to provide reference for such novel translation practice in the future.
