Research On Image Narrative In Adult Picture Books

With the publication and promotion of original picture books by Taiwanese picture book writer Jimi in the mainland,while bringing the concept of "adult picture books" to the mainland,a picture book boom has been set off.In the following 20 years,more and more classic picture books from the world have been introduced into China.Picture books quickly occupied the market of children’s books by relying on their unique graphic and textual narrative methods.Compared with the vigorous development of the children’s picture book market,the development of the adult picture book market is relatively slow.According to The Paper’s "2021 China Book Market Research Report" and data from Beijing Normal University and "2021 New Youth Reading Report",the post-95 s youth have become an emerging group of book consumption in my country,and it can be inferred that adult picture books for non-children have certain development potential.With the popularity of smartphones,digital images have gradually become the main channel for modern people to obtain information,and fragmented reading has also become the mainstream reading method.Picture books have also ushered in new opportunities.Through the demarcation of picture book form,this paper sorts out the development and evolution of picture book,and then defines the concept of adult picture book,in order to cut into adult picture book research from the perspective of image narrative.The research scope is not limited to the pictures in adult picture books,but also includes the overall layout design,graphic form,book format and paper material selection in adult picture books.These factors have more or less influence on the narrative in the entire picture book.In the research process,the author discusses the role of various elements in the picture book narrative based on excellent picture book cases at home and abroad,and supplements the existing adult picture book research theories.Finally,the theoretical research is implemented into the actual adult picture book creation,which provides theoretical support for the author’s adult picture book creation and provides reference for other adult picture book creators.
