| Teaching Manuscripts are an important text carrier for the development and inheritance of Chinese painting. This article aims to discuss the origin and development context of"Teaching Manuscripts" and have a new understanding of "Teaching Manuscripts"paintings. On the basis of the comprehensive application of art history, image textual research and philology, the abuse of subjective speculation in image hermeneutics is abandoned, supplemented by the author’s practical experience in learning Chinese painting.Han Huang’s "Five Ox" does not seem to have a special meaning from the perspective of literature and picture composition, and the five Ox in the picture are drawn from various angles, which is more similar to the painting method of the apprentice’s manuscript.Huang quan’s "Birds,Insects and Turtles" has the inscription of the author "For my son Ju bao to learn".Ma Yuan’s “Water" should be due to the concept of "water for fire prevention".The Song Dynasty court project required a large number of works to express water. He ordered Ma Yuan to teach other painters in this book to draw water.According to this,Han Huang’s "Five Ox",Huang quan’s "Birds,Insects and Turtles" and Ma Yuan’s "Water",which are generally unconcerned by the academic community, determine that these three works are "Teaching Manuscripts"paintings, and then pushes the era of surviving Teaching Manuscripts to the Tang Dynasty.Subvert the previous academic community’s understanding of Teaching Manuscripts and extend the concept of Teaching Manuscripts upwards. And the Teaching Manuscripts of the Yuan Dynasty and the Ming and Qing Dynasties were studied.Several types of Teaching Manuscripts are analyzed, and it is pointed out that Teaching Manuscripts are not only for teaching students, but also an important way for painters to explore their own language. And understand the painting significance of the apprentice manuscript from the perspective of science. |
