Spatial Cognition In Contemporary Painting

Painting is an art form dominated by visual senses.Artists visualize their understanding of the real world on a twodimensional plane,thus reflecting the state of the artist’s inner world.Space is an important concept existing in the real world,and the expression of space dimension is also an ancient proposition existing in the beginning of painting art.Taking "space in painting" as the starting point,this paper discusses the diversified presentation of space in contemporary painting and the diversified cognition and consciousness displayed by contemporary artists when dealing with painting space.Modernism broke through the "reproducibility" space expression of western classical paintings.In contemporary paintings,what kind of creative logic is the artist’s representation of space based on?This paper enumerates several typical contemporary artists in the spatial treatment of painting by way of case analysis.Starting with their painting themes,media language and creation methods,this paper expounds how the spatial expression of contemporary painting is affected by new media technology,mass culture,social concepts and other factors in the era.What are the multidimensional understanding and cognition of the existence of "space" in contemporary painting? The diversity of space forms broadens the aesthetic form of painting,and at the same time brings what new inspiration and significance to the expression of painting? Based on these questions,this paper studies and discusses the possibility of spatial expression in contemporary painting.
