The Soviet-German war broke out on June 22,1941,and the Soviet Union suffered huge losses in the initial period of the war.In order to change the bad situation in the initial period of the war,the Soviet Union paid a huge price.Some mistakes made by the Soviet Union in initial Period of the war on politics,diplomacy and military are the main content of this study.This paper mainly studies the reasons for the Soviet Union’s defeat in initial period of the war.It mainly consists of three parts.The first part starts from the perspective of international relations and analyzes the changes of the international situation before the outbreak of the Soviet-German war.The second part analyzes the pre-war preparations of the Soviet Union and Germany from the perspective of military and politics.The third part analyzes the specific reasons for the Soviet Union’s defeat in the early stage of the war from three aspects: political,diplomatic and military..In terms of method,this paper mainly discusses the reasons for the failure of the Soviet Union through the methods of historical data analysis and comparative research.This paper argues that the reasons for the Soviet Union’s defeat in the early period of the Soviet-German war were complex and profound.Politically,the Great Purge and Stalin’s misjudgment before and during the war were one of the main reasons for the Soviet Union’s defeat in the the initial period of the war;From a diplomatic perspective,the failure of the German appeasement policy and the the Eastern Front strategy intensified the Soviet Union’s terrible situation of the initial period of the war;From a military point of view,the Soviet Union had certain problems in army construction,especially in logistics and training,and compared with the German army,the Soviet army had certain shortcomings.This is the immediate cause of the defeat at the beginning of the war.
