A Simulated Simultaneous Interpreting Practice Report On The Fourth China And German AI Conference

As a new round of important driving force of the scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation,AI is now profoundly changing the world.The interpreter takes the recording of the Fourth China-German AI Conference as the corpus to carry out the simulated interpreting.This simulation is not only a test for the interpreting ability of the interpreter but also the chance of getting in touch with the cutting-edge technology in related fields.“Choice-making” and “adaptation” often take place in language use in our daily life,and interpretation is a process of continuous “choice-making” and “adaptation”.Under the guidance of Adaptation Theory,this report analyzes and explains the cases with characteristics of choice-making and adaptation,and summarizes the strategies of choice-making and adaptation through the problems encountered in the interpreting activity,thus verify the feasibility of these strategies of choices and adaptation in interpreting practice,and provide some personal experiences for other interpreters.This report falls into five parts: the first part is the description of this interpreting task including its background,significance,source,features and objectives.The second part is the preparation and the implementation of this simulated activity.The third part is the theoretical framework.The fourth part introduces the case study from three dimensions of Adaptation Theory,explores the application of “choice-making” and “adaptation” and analyzes the problems in the process of interpretation through interpretation strategies as well as the methods adopted.The fifth part is the summary of this simulated interpreting,which focuses on the feedback and reflection during and after the interpretation.
