A Report On The Simulated English-Chinese Simultaneous Interpreting Of "Into The Breach" Design Postmortem

Entertainment industries are rising in recent years.Video game,as a member,is taking a large market share in global economy.In the globalization trend,to seek development,we must learn from the leading countries,and absorb experience from the best game studios.Into the Breach is an independent game made by Subset Games and is nominated for the best independent game on The Game Award 2018.In this speech "Into the Breach" Design Postmortem,the speaker introduced the development of the game and their strategy of making games.The author simulated a simultaneous interpreting of this speech and transcribed the recording of the interpreting into text.In the report,the author mainly makes an analysis based on the simulated simultaneous interpreting of the speech.In the first part,the author introduces the overall background of the interpreting and put forth the purpose and significance of the report.In the second part,the author makes a description about the speech,the interpreting task and the theory applied in this report.In the third part,the interpreting process is introduced,including preparation,interpreting process and feedback.The fourth part is Case Analysis,and is the core of this report.In this part,the author reviews his translation by using adaptation theory and corresponding methods and strategies.In the fifth part,the author summarizes his gains and problems during the interpreting and makes a conclusion of the task.From this interpreting task,the author learned that as an interpreter,every section of the interpreting counts.Before the interpreting,the author did his best to learn about the subject and study about adaptation theory.During interpreting process,under the guidance of adaptation theory,the author managed to understand the source text basing on the context,and tried to expressed the meaning fluently by using interpreting methods such as simplification and amplification,division and combination,and so on.The author also learned about his defects and is aware that he must keep practicing to improve interpreting skills.
