A Study Of The Geographical Mobility Of The Scholars In The Eastern Han Dynasty

This article mainly discusses the geographical mobility of scholars in the Eastern Han Dynasty.Firstly,the geographical mobility of scholars in the Eastern Han Dynasty has certain temporal and spatial characteristics.In terms of temporal characteristics,the geographical mobility of Confucian classics students and classics teachers mainly concentrated in the early and late Eastern Han Dynasty,while the geographical mobility of hermit groups is mainly in the late Eastern Han Dynasty.In terms of spatial characteristics,Henanyin and Youfufeng are the key areas for the geographical mobility of Confucian classics students in the Eastern Han Dynasty;the key areas for the geographical mobility of classical teachers are mainly concentrated in Henanyin and Runan County;for the hermit groups,there is no absolute focus area.Secondly,the geographical mobility of scholars in the Eastern Han Dynasty is related to many factors.Specifically,the study tours of Confucian classics students,the teaching of Confucian classics teachers in different counties,and the recluse of hermit groups in different counties are the main reasons for its geographical mobility.In addition,there are still cases of studying,teaching,and seclusion in the county at that time.Among them,affected by geographical factors,the proportion of students and teachers of Confucian classics in Shanyang and Anding counties studying and teaching in the county is relatively high.The government’s population control policy,the practice of filial piety to relatives,and the pursuit of academic culture also make some hermits to decide to go into seclusion with the county.Among them,the hermits in Runan and Youfufeng choose to relocate locally for academic purposes.Finally,the geographical mobility of scholars in the Eastern Han Dynasty had a significant impact on the society at that time.Among them,the study tour of Confucian classical students will not only highlight a group of classical masters,but also improve the academic and cultural level of culturally backward areas.On the one hand,the teaching activities of the Confucian classics teachers will increase the number of Imperial College students,and on the other hand,it will contribute to the local moral education and economic development.The hermit group’s retreat between different counties and states is not only conducive to the moral education of the people,but also improves the local culture and education level to a certain extent.
