A Report On The Translation Of The Core Of Japanese Culture

Based on the author’s translation practice during the internship in Hangzhou Tuya Information Technology Co.,Ltd.,this translation practice report is about Chinese-toEnglish translation of the technical documentation of the Tuya IoT Development Platform.The translated documents are uploaded onto the company’s website.The task requires that the translation version should conform to the English technical writing standard,the language should be precise and concise,and the term should be consistent.This report reviews C-E translation of the technical documentation in detail.Under the framework of “Comprehension,Expression,and Adaptation”(“CEA”)proposed by Li Changshuan,this report discusses the difficulties in “Comprehension”,the references for “Expression” and the necessity of “Adaptation” in C-E translation of the technical documentation.Based on the author’s translation practice,the author explores the“Comprehension” of the source text,the standard of “Expression”,and the means of“Adaptation” of the target text with typical cases.In the process of “Comprehension”,the general technical terms,internal technical terms,and sentence logic are three obstacles.To deal with the difficulties,the author searches for information on general technical terms on the internet,makes logical analysis of the sentence,runs the process of what the source text suggests,and consults the writer when necessary.In the process of “Expression”,faced with the specific textual structure and writing style,the author strives to meet the expression standard by following the principle of consistency,writing in plain English,and referring to the parallel text and technical writing style guide.In the process of “Adaptation”,to achieve the effect of technical communication,the author with a critical spirit adopts the translation techniques of addition,subtraction,and adaptation.This report aims to provide a reference for the translators who will be engaged in technical translation.
