With the proposal of the core quality of English,cultivating students’ humanistic quality has gradually become the focus on English teaching.While developing students’ language knowledge and language skills,teachers should focus on developing students’ cultural awareness,cultural manner,and comprehension of Chinese culture.However,the current culture teaching in junior high school English teaching ignores the integration of Chinese culture,which leads to students’ inability to express Chinese culture accurately in English and the phenomenon of “Chinese Culture Aphasia”.Therefore,in order to improve students’ English ability to express Chinese culture,more and more scholars begun to focus on the research of Chinese culture teaching.After reviewing a large number of literature materials on foreign language teaching and culture teaching,the researcher adopts intercultural communication theory and input-output hypothesis theory,combines with the National English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011 edition),takes the actual teaching problems as the entry points and mainly investigates the following questions:(1)Has the students’ cognitive level of the integration of Chinese culture into junior high school English teaching been improved?(2)How to integrate Chinese culture into junior high school English teaching?What are the specific integration paths?(3)How effective is the application of Chinese cultural integration in junior high school English teaching?This study takes 130 students from two parallel classes and 6 English teachers in Grade 8 of XX Middle School in XX City as the research subjects to understand the current situation of Chinese culture in English teaching through ability test papers,questionnaires,and interviews.Based on the survey results and cause analysis,this study summarizes five principles to be followed and ten teaching methods that can be used to integrate Chinese culture into junior high school English teaching.To verify the effectiveness of the proposed cultural integration path,this study formulates a detailed Chinese culture integration in English teaching plan and conducts research and teaching experiments on the integration path in the experimental class.The results of the study show that the pathway of Chinese culture integration into junior high school English teaching can improve students’ cognitive level of Chinese culture English learning,promote students’ behavior toward Chinese culture English learning,stimulate students’ interest inEnglish learning and enhance students’ ability to express Chinese culture in English.Last but not least,this study puts forward specific integration path suggestions from the four dimensions of teachers,students,teaching materials and schools,which will help to enrich the teaching strategies of Chinese culture in junior high school English teaching,and provide practical teaching reference for front-line teachers to integrate Chinese culture into English teaching.
