Report On The Translation Of A Report On The Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games (Excerpts) From Eco-translatology Perspective

After the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games,the 2022 Olympic Winter Games was held in Beijing,thus making Beijing to become the first Dual City of Olympics.This report on Chinese-English translation is excerpted from Chapter 1,Section 1 and Chapter 2 of A Report on the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games published by the Chinese government.It focuses on the preparations for the Beijing Winter Olympics,as well as the Chinese concept and culture of the Winter Olympics.This report is guided by Professor Hu Gengshen’s eco-translatology.In the process of translation,the translator encountered many difficulties including word selection,long and compound sentences,culture-loaded words,Chinese characteristic expression and the style and logic of the original text,etc.By using the three-dimensional transformation theory,the translator adopts the strategies of adaptation,selection,reconstruction,symbiosis,and transplantation to solve the above difficulties and ensure the readability of the translation.This study of translation practice consists of five parts.The first part is an introduction,presenting the background and significance of the study and the structure of the thesis.The second part is the translator’s analysis of the features of the original text in linguistic,cultural,and communicative dimensions.The third part is the theoretical foundation.The fourth part is the case study,which explains in detail the guiding role of eco-translatology in this translation practice through examples.The fifth part is a summary of the translation strategies and shortcomings in this translation practice.The aim of this translation practice is to introduce the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics,to promote Chinese culture and highlight China’s national power,and to demonstrate the guiding role of eco-translatology on translation practice.
