| To help students enhance their reading ability is an important teaching task.However,under the influence of exam-oriented education,many teachers focus on the explanation and analysis of grammar and language points.Most of time teachers don’t pay enough attention to students’ ability to grasp the comprehension of the whole text,and ignore the cultivation of the ability of students to use reading strategies.In recent years,schema theory and text analysis have also attracted much attention in the field of reading teaching.But previous studies mainly focus on college students,and there is less research on the students in the basic education stage,so the scope of the research object is still small.The researcher of the thesis selects 118 students from a high school in Fuzhou City,Jiangxi Province to conduct the experiment.The experimental period lasts 16 weeks.Firstly,the researcher objectively investigates students’ English reading status through the questionnaire and interviews with some teachers and students.According to the questions reflected in the questionnaire,the researcher uses the schema theory to design a schema reading teaching method that is different from the traditional model,and applies it to the teaching experiment.Then the researcher uses experimental research to verify whether schema theory is effective in high school English text analysis reading teaching.This study includes two research questions: 1)What is the effect of the application of schema theory on high school students’ reading ability? 2)Can the application of schema theory in high school English reading teaching stimulate students’ interest in English reading?The researcher uses SPSS 20.0 to analyze the questionnaire and experimental data.The answers to the two research questions are as follow.Firstly,the English reading ability of these high school students has been significantly improved.Second,schema theory can enhance students’ reading interest.Compared with traditional English reading teaching methods,schema theory teaching method is more effective.Therefore,if English teachers can actively use schema theory and design a teaching mode suitable for students’ learning situation,their teaching activities will be more efficient,and the teaching effect.will be improved. |
