Chinese civilization has been playing an important role in the world civilization.Marvelous Archaeological Sites is a cultural reading book published by the SDX Joint Publishing Press in 2020.The book selects ten unique representative archaeological sites from China’s major archaeological discoveries. For promoting the dissemination of China’s traditional culture, especially Liangzhu culture through the translation of this part, this report selects the first lecture of the book: Liangzhu:A Mystical Archaic Country 5,000 Years Ago as the translation text.As the source text contains a lot of culture-loaded words, the cultural deficiencies in the process of translation are inevitable. Thus, the translator takes Translation Compensation as the guide to compensate for the cultural loss in translation,so as to reduce the cultural loss and fully show the original information to the target readers.Under the guidance of Translation Compensation theory, this translation report takes the first chapter: Liangzhu: A Mystical Archaic Country 5,000 Years Ago in Marvelous Archaeological Sites as the object of translation. The first part makes an introduction of the translation project. The second part gives a detailed explanation of the three stages: before, during and after the whole translation practice process, mainly introducing the theoretical preparation, difficulties encountered and solutions of translation practice, and post-translation inspection. The third part is the analysis of the main translation compensation strategies adopted in the translation practice from three levels of language, culture and aesthetics based on the original text. The research conclusion are as follows: in information and cultural texts, translation compensation at different levels mostly occurs at the same time, and the frequency of compensation at the linguistic level and cultural level is higher than that at the aesthetic level, especially the lexical compensation and grammatical compensation at the linguistic level.
