This report is based on the author’s consecutive interpreting practice in a training course on cross-border e-commerce for ASEAN offered by Guangxi International Business Vocational College in November 2019.A total of 30 participants attended this training course,which aimed to help them understand the development of cross-border e-commerce in China and involved a large number of cross-border e-commerce and Internet-related vocabulary.This report mainly introduces the interpretation process in five parts,and analyzes the translation effect as well as summarizes it.In the first part,the author introduces the background of the event and the description of the task.In the second part,the author describes the interpretation process,including the pre-interpreting preparation and the interpreting arrangement and equipment disfunction during the on-site interpretation process.In the case study section,the author analyzes the translation variation theory and uses variation techniques such as amplification,deleting,compiling,narration,condensation and combination to analyze the interpreted text under its guidance.During the interpreting process,the author encountered problems such as redundancy of information,Chinese-English bilingual conversion,the handling of culturally loaded words,information density and logical confusion of speakers,and the author discusses the on-site treatment of these problems as well as the improved versions after reflection.In addition,the author conducts an evaluation of the interpretation task,including self-evaluation and feedback from students and the host,and the author has received positive feedback,which can help summarize his strengths and weaknesses.Finally,the author summarizes the interpretation assignment and further illustrates the positive aspects of this report.This report has provided a complete record of the interpretation practice through the transcript of the interpreting recording.Meanwhile,it analyzes the interpreted sentences as examples with the aim of exploring the feasibility of the cross-border e-commerce training course based on the variation techniques and bringing benefits to related interpreting tasks. |
