A Practice Report On Text Coherence In Simulating Consecutive Interpreting Based On The Translation Variation Theory

As international communication becomes more frequent,the quality of interpretation has gradually become the focus of our attention.Coherence is an important criterion to measure the quality of interpretation,and it is also one of the most important features of discourses.The coherence of target language directly affects the commutation.Most researchers put emphasis on vocabulary and cohesive ties,but few scholars focus on the text coherence.This report is a practice report of Chinese-English consecutive interpreting.Based on the Translation Variation Theory,the interpreter takes the 2016 China Green Company Summit as an example,and summarizes the problems in interpreting practice and presented them in the form of case analysis.The case study shows the following findings.Firstly,background information and implication can be use to solve the problems caused by quoting the economic vocabulary with Chinese characteristics and poems.Secondly,condensing information and omitting synonyms are the best methods to deal with the redundant information.Thirdly,through adding logical connectives and adjusting sentence structure can help to solve the vague logic relationships.Coherence can help audience to understand the speaker quickly and correctly.Therefore,this report mainly discusses the text coherence of the target language.It is hoped that the report can bring some reference value to the later researches.
