| Improving the Chinese communicative competence of foreign students to varying degrees is the clear goal of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in the Chinese Syllabus for foreign students in colleges and universities.Cross cultural sensitivity belongs to the emotional level of cross-cultural communicative competence and is an important part of communicative competence.The domestic research on cross-cultural sensitivity is mainly concentrated in the field of English teaching,and the relevant research in the field of international Chinese education still needs to be enriched and improved.Yunnan’s international Chinese education started early.With the further prominence of Yunnan’s regional advantages in the "the Belt and Road" initiative,Yunnan’s universities have become the first choice for more overseas students to learn Chinese.Foreign students are not only learners,but also a bridge for foreign cultural exchange and publicity in Yunnan.The cross-cultural ability of foreign students is related to the cognition and affinity of China,and also affects the communication between Yunnan and the world to a certain extent.Therefore,this paper will investigate the cross-cultural sensitivity of foreign students in universities in Yunnan,so as to provide reference for the cultivation of their Chinese communicative competence.Through the combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods,this paper takes 83 foreign students in universities in Yunnan as the research object to analyze their cross-cultural communication.The questionnaire adopts the cross-cultural sensitivity scale of Chen and starosta,which not only quantifies the sensitivity level of the subjects,but also analyzes the correlation and difference of the five dimensions of sensitivity.The results show that:(1)the overall cross-cultural sensitivity level of 83 students is above the pass level;(2)compare the mean values of each dimension: "communication participation > difference identification >communication confidence > communication focus > communication pleasure".The most ideal is "communication participation",and the most to be improved are "communication pleasure" and "communication focus".The mean values of the two dimensions are almost the same,both of which are the lowest.(3)There are great differences in the level of cross-cultural sensitivity among students,and there is a phenomenon of polarization.It is found that cross-cultural activities are the key to the improvement of cross-cultural sensitivity.The interview analysis shows that the limitations of interpersonal communication,the lack of understanding of cultural differences and the limited ways of cultural learning are the factors restricting the development of students’ communicative competence.According to the quantitative and qualitative research results,this paper puts forward the corresponding solutions.Starting with the current situation of the sensitivity of foreign students,this paper analyzes its problems and countermeasures,which can provide a scheme for the work of international Chinese teachers and overseas study managers,and help the development of international Chinese education in Yunnan.Limited by ability and conditions,the research objects are scattered in different countries.In the future,the research can develop in the direction of nationalization to make the results more refined and targeted,so as to enrich the relevant research in the field of cross-cultural communication. |
