The Western Han River Basin is located in the south of Gansu province, and there are many archaeological sites in the region.According to the development characteristics of regional archaeology, the archaeological activities in the Western Han River Basin are firstly divided into three stages: the creation stage(Before 1949),the develop stage(1950 to 1979)and the flourishing stage(After 1980).The three stages of archaeological activities are sorted out and studied respectively to discuss the role and influence of the archaeological activities in the Western Han River basin. Before 1949,the archaeological work in the Western Han River Basin was mainly focused on archaeological investigation, except for the related research on Qin Gong Gui.Scholars such as Andersson and Pei Wenzhong used the investigation methods of archaeological science to make special investigations on the prehistoric cultural sites in the basin,to comb out the general situation of the sites and supplement the content of the prehistoric culture in Gansu Province. From 1950 to 1979,the archaeology of the Western Han River Basin developed relatively slowly, mainly including the investigation activities of Gansu Provincial Museum,Tianshui Cultural Bureau, and several cultural relics survey within the province, but there was a lack of formal archaeological excavation activities. After 1980,the Western Han River Basin appeared a large number of archaeological investigation and excavation activities, published a number of archaeological investigation and excavation report in time,at the same time, the application of the archaeology theory and method of modern new to come in,formed some examples of archaeological excavations, new archaeological data promoted the progress of related research. The Western Han River Basin archaeological career also has higher development.By reviewing and sorting out the development of regional archaeology in the past hundred years,it can be found that the archaeological activities in the Western Han River Basin were characterized by distinct stages, and the archaeological investigation and excavation results greatly enriched the relevant research materials. The discovery of a large number of prehistoric sites is helpful to correctly understand the distribution range, regional characteristics, development and alternation of prehistoric culture in Gansu province, and it provides data for the study of early human activities in eastern Gansu Province. The results of archaeological activities related to early Qin culture not only promote the solution of specific problems such as pre-Qin bronze ware research,"Quanqiu" and Qin tomb at Dabuzi Mountain, but also help us understand the origin and exchange of Qin culture. In addition, they also provide valuable information for the construction of city sites and sacrificial activities during the Zhou and Qin dynasties. The research results of longnan grottoes supplement the contents of the communication between grottoes in various regions in China. In addition, through archaeology and research activities in the Western Han River Basin, researchers gradually established Lixian county as the research center in the early Qin culture, and the important traffic status on the main north-south of "longnan grottoes group" in the process of art style spread of Chinese grotto. At the same time,it is helpful to show the cultural landscape in Gansu province and the archaeological culture protection and inheritance.
