Surxondaryo is located in the Uzbekistan of Central Asia, it is the first-level tributary of Amu Darya, it mainly pass through Surxondaryo Vilayat of Uzbekistan. The early Kushan is different with the Kushan Empire. The early Kushan discussed in the thesis refers to the time span which is after the Bactria Kingdom perished but before the Kushan Empire was established. In Surxondaryo river basin, the archaeology studies found 86 relics for the early Kushan. Some of them had been explored scientifically at the Soviet Union era.A lot of potteries was unearthed in some relics which had been explored. Combined with the relic itself, it provided the basic materials for demonstrating the remains of the early Kushan. The thesis can be divided into four parts, which analyzed the characteristics of the classic pottery about their shape, evolution and stages in the early Kushan era in Surxondaryo river basin. The first chapter is the introduction. It demonstrated the natural geography, history and the historical discoveries which were forgotten by people. The second chapter is the typology analysis. First of all, the thesis analyzed the distribution, layout characteristics and functions of the Hellenization relics of Kushan era which were discovered in the Surxondaryo river basin. Then the author proposed his own views about the impact of different relics. Following that, the author made a brief introduction for the six relics with the most discoveries by the scientific exploration. At last, the thesis did a typology analysis for all the nine kinds of pottery. The Third chapter is the stages and evolution. Based on the typology analysis, the thesis divided the classical potteries in this area into four periods, which are Hellenization period, early Kushan period, early Kushan empire period and the middle and late period of Kushan empire. After analyzed the evolution of potteries in different period, the author made a conclusion about the characteristics of the potteries in early Kushan era.The last chapter is the discussion about the related problems. In total, there are four problems, which are the constitution of population in early Kushan era, the religious belief, the relationship between the Yuezhi’s people and the Kushan’s people, and the possibility for agricultural population to conquer nomadic population. After the demonstration, it was discovered that the early Kushan era was a transition period for the development of pottery. The characteristics of pottery at that time kept the Greek style but made a breakthrough at the same time, which lies the foundation for the formation of the pottery in Kushan empire. According to the proportion and function, the relics can be divided into four levels, including the central area, the settlement area for the general public, military center and the small forts for the other three levels. There is a demographic diversity for that area. Then the people there enjoyed a freedom for religious belief and there is a tendency for the popularity of the Buddhism. At the same time, after the agricultural population found the production and living laws for the nomadic population, it is possible for them to conquer the nomadic population.
