Global Competence is "the ability of individuals to effectively survive and communicate across cultures in the era of globalization with respect,openness,tolerance and understanding,and global knowledge and existing international communication as global citizens".Global Competence has attracted much attention in talent cultivation in the current era of globalization.The international communication of Chinese is a great cause for China in the era of globalization.The Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(MTCSOL)is an important route to spread Chinese internationally,so it is of great significance to the cultivation of Global Competence for the students,and the cultivation requirements are more strict and meticulous than other majors.Previous researches on Global Competence mainly focus on theoretical discussion and practical research in the field of universal education.Not enough attention has been paid to the cultivation of Global Competence for MTCSOL.The College of International Education in M University has paid attention to the Global Competence of MTCSOL both in terms of training mode and training methods,and has achieved remarkable results.Therefore,this paper attempts to conduct a comprehensive investigation and evaluation of the cultivation of the Global Competence of MTCSOL in M University,using the triangular demonstration mode of in-depth observation,questionnaire survey and interview survey.The specific research steps are as follows:Firstly,establish the framework.Based on the literature review of Global Competence cultivation and the cultivation of MTCSOL,establish the evaluation framework of Global Competence cultivation for MTCSOL by using Delphi method.The framework includes three first-level dimensions:knowledge and understanding,skills and application,attitude and values;There are nine secondary dimensions:domestic and foreign knowledge,cross-cultural knowledge,global knowledge,ability of using tools,cross-cultural communication skills,critical thinking ability,attitude of equality and respect,willingness to cross-cultural communication,global vision and international responsibility.Secondly,In-depth analysis of the curriculum setting of MTCSOL in M University by field observation method.The curriculum of MTCSOL in M University are divided into three categories:cultural and intercultural communication courses,language and teaching courses,and research methods and other courses.The Global Competence of the three courses is analyzed from the nine secondary dimensions.Thirdly,Questionnaire survey of an overall assessment of the Global Competence cultivation of MTCSOL in M University.The questionnaire was designed according to the evaluation framework,including 31 questions.Questionnaires were sent to 48 students from the College of International Education in 2020.Through factor analysis of valid questionnaires,five new dimensions of Global Competence for MTCSOL are extracted,including knowledge of culture and communication,academic ability and thinking,equality and respect,global vision and interaction,intercultural communication ability.Based on the five dimensions,this paper summarizes the overall characteristics of Global Competence cultivation for MTCSOL in M University.Fourthly,differentiated evaluation of Global Competence cultivation for MTCSOL in M University by in-depth interview method.Based on the five new dimensions and the course analysis of in-depth observation,an interview outline was compiled,including 15 questions in total.Through targeted sampling,8 students of MTCSOL with cross-cultural communication experience were selected for interview,and the differences of Global Competence cultivation of MTCSOL in M University were summarized.Fifthly,put forward the overall thinking and suggestions.Based on the above research,this paper puts forward the overall thinking and suggestions for the cultivation of Global Competence of MTCSOL in M University from five dimensions.This research has some innovations in research fields,research tools and research methods.In terms of research fields,there are few relevant researches on Global Competence of graduate students,and there is no research on the cultivation of global competence of MTCSOL.In terms of research tools,a holistic assessment scale and a difference assessment interview outline were created.In terms of research methods,a combination of in-depth observation,questionnaire survey and interview survey were adopted.This paper can provide some reference for the cultivation of Global Competence of MTCSOL and provide decision-making basis for relevant departments.
