| Since the outbreak of COVID-19 at the end of 2019,the pandemic has continued until now,which has left an indelible impact on the political,economic and daily life of all countries.Moreover,the impact caused by COVID-19 is far more serious than the financial crisis.Over the past few decades,Asia has taken the advantages of globalization and became the fastest-growing and most dynamic region in the world.At the same time,the digital era has already come.Under the background,many countries are devoting to digital construction and also obtain some achievements.The outbreak of COVID-19 is also a great challenge to the digital development.How can we allocate the existing economic resources to digitalisation?This is a question worth consideration.This translation practice report is based on the material excerpted from the annual report Economic Outlook for Southeast Asia,China and India 2021:Reallocating Resources for Digitalisation(Excerpts),which is an economic text.Unlike those written by individual writers,this book is finished with the united the strength of a whole organization.It tries to explore the most efficient and effective prospects of the economic development.The book analyzes all aspects of economic development in a simple and understandable way,and illustrates with the help of icons,which can be regarded as a great economic text during the COVID-19.This report selects the first chapter of the book for translation.The author first makes an overall review and analyzes the current financial market,current account imbalance and recent development situation in the chapter.In my opinion,the first chapter,with practical reference and translation value,studies the current situation and forecasts the future development of several Asian countries.This report mainly uses the theory of functional equivalence to analyze cases from the lexical level and sentence level,before summarizing problems and providing solutions.For the word level,there are two major problems--choosing meaning and deciding the part of speech.The translator uses free translation and conversion of part of speech to deal with such problems.For the level of syntactic translation,the translator chooses methods of splitting and reorganizing complex and difficult sentences,making passive-voice sentences without "Bei" as well as analyzing attributive and adverbials respectively to handle complex and difficult sentences,passive voice transformation,as well as attributive and adverbials.During the process of writing,the translator learns to handle sorts of problems in the process so as to achieve equal transformation for information and meaning based on the theory.In addition,the translator grasps new understanding and experiences due to the translation report,providing reference for translation practice in the future. |
