Giorgio Morandi occupies an important place among the representatives of Western still life painting, and his paintings are equally relevant in contemporary times.Known as ’the most colourful master of the 20 th century’,Giorgio Morandi is best known in recent years for his colouring habits, known as the ’Morandi Colour System’.The influence of his works is not only in terms of colour, but also in the spirit of his work, which has a profound connotation,as his attitude towards "things" and the spirit of seclusion presented in his pictures coincide with traditional Chinese cultural thought. This essay focuses on four main aspects: firstly, the analysis of Morandi’s language and its guiding significance in still life painting;secondly, the exploration of the inner spirit of ’everyday objects’;thirdly, the interpretation of the concept of stillness and the related aesthetic approach;and fourthly, the expression of the author’s personal experience, personal perception and reflection on painting in relation to still life.Through the study of the subject matter of "everyday objects",this essay focuses on the images of Morandi’s oil paintings of still life, and then explores the inner spirit of the "objects" he expresses in his works. The aim is to further explore the distance between ’objects’ and people, and to gradually understand the spirit given by ’objects’ in the process of quietly observing them, and then to have a better understanding of contemporary attitudes towards life and the impact of small, everyday details and commonplace things. In the course of this meditation,we come to appreciate the spirit of what "things" give.Especially in the new situation of epidemic and development, the author hopes that the busy people of today will have more time and space to observe,re-conceptualise and rethink new ways of living,so as to further deepen their thinking about ordinary life.
