George Morandi is an excellent artist who has great influece in Italy and even in the world art field.Morandi’s still-life paintings have extremely profound significance to the Western Art.Most of his works use some ordinary objects in daily life such as bottles, pots and dishes as the main creative themes. The unique insights and expressions of the form and color of the pictures combine creative themes and expression techniques in a ingenious way.Morandi changed the artistic concept of traditional Western paintings, which regard figures as the main creative objects. With regard to still-life paintings,Morandi also found more possibilities for the creation of Western traditional still-life oil paintings based on realism. The minimalist artistic expression methods and concepts in the paintings of Randy’s works also have great enlightenment for the modern art. Moreover,Morandi’s unique painting form language and its color language, gray tone in his still-life paintings,as well as the spirit of painting and the core of thinking behind it,are similar to those of ancient Chinese literati paintings. The paintings are pure and simple but can show the sincerity. The large amount of white space provides a very good interpretation of the similarities between the abstract and the concrete in the depiction of the objects in the picture. These paintings with Western art forms and oriental spiritual core have a great influence on the author’s spirit and on the road of artistic practice and exploration.Studying Morandi’s painting and spirit has great enlightenment for personal creation. This paper considers and analyzes Morandi’s still-life paintings and regards the painting style and the essence and spirit behind the tranquil and eternal breath of the paintings as the research object.I try to analyze the paintings through my own understanding by more intuitive ways of expressing pictures, such as the form and tone of the painting, and then derive the connotation and spirit expressed behind the work from the outside to the inside.Through the interpretation and experience of Morandi’s works,he can more clearly think and practice his own artistic painting creation, and strive to make his own artistic creation have a breakthrough in the form language and the connotation of the work, and eventually realize his own ideas.Pursuit of artistic concept. This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter mainly introduces Morandi’s artistic career, which focuses on the influence of Morandi at various stages of his artistic career and the formation and progress of artistic concepts and aesthetic attitudes. The second chapter selects three more obvious and prominent features from Morandi’s picture form, starting from the composition of the works and then exploring the deep essence and meaning of the work. The third chapter analyzes Morandi’s painting tone, from the three aspects of the creation object, environment and painter’s willingness to analyze the formation process and characteristics of the gray tone displayed by Morandi on the painting. The fourth chapter tells the author after analyzing and learning Morandi’s still-life paintings, combined with his own artistic creation, elaborates on Morandi’s influence on the author at this stage, especially the later-stage understanding of the art form and the connotation of the picture. This article only starts with my personal understanding of Morandi’s still-life paintings and their connotations, combined with the experience and conclusions summarized by the predecessors,to illustrate the characteristics and charms of the form and color language in his works.I hope it can help everyone in the future, especially provide a better reference in the creation process.
