Regret is a high level of cognitive emotion,and when people realize that there will be better results if they take other actions earlier,regret will follow.Self-esteem is the core component of individual self-system and an important component of self-concept.Studies have found a certain relationship between self-esteem and regret.Regret is also an emotion closely related to decision making.Regrets are more likely to occur in situations where there are certain risk consequences.Risk decision-making is a typical type of decision-making.In the risk decision-making situations,will it affect the individual’s regrets?The study was designed to study the effects of individual self-esteem on regret emotion in decision-making situations by using experimental and interview methods.The study first tested 180 high school students using the self-esteem scale to screen out the effectiveness of the voluntary participation in the experiment was selected as 90.Secondly,the mixed design of 3×2 was used to experiment with the real wheel of luck game,to study the impact of self-esteem on regret in risk decision-making situations.In the end,14 high school students with different self-esteem levels were interviewed in semi-structured interviews to further understand the regret emotion of high school students with different self-esteem levels in risk decision-making situations.The main findings of the study are as follows:(1)the main effect of self-esteem on regret is significant.The regrets of high school students with low self-esteem are significantly higher than those with high self-esteem and middle self-esteem.There is no significant difference between high self-esteem and middle self-esteem high school students’ regrets.(2)the main effect of risk decision-making situations on regret emotion is significant.High school students have a higher intensity of regret emotion than low risk decision-making situations.(3)there is a significant interaction between self-esteem and risk decision-making situations.Under the high decision-making situations,high self-esteem high school students regret their emotional intensity significantly lower than middle self-esteem and low self-esteem level high school students;And in low-risk decision-making situations,high self-esteem and middle self-esteem and low self-esteem of high school students regret emotional intensity no significant difference.The emotional difference of regret among high school students with high self-esteem in risk decision-making situations is not significant.High school students with middle self-esteem and low self-esteem had significantly higher regret intensity than low-risk decision-making in high-risk decision-making situations.
