Choice deferral is an important topic in the field of decision making in recent years. It refers to behavior of avoiding making decisions immediately that individuals should make a decision but delay to do it.Previous studies found that the influences of choice deferral including cognition, emotion and some other personal factors. Moreover, researchers are focusing on exploring the rules of making decisions for self in the field of choice deferral. There is few research about a person making decisions for others. On the basis of literature review, this research will explore the different tendency of delay choice and decision preference of making decision for self and for others in the field of choice deferral.Furthermore, the research will investigate the differences of delay choice and decision preferences such as difficulties, satisfaction and anticipated regret of decision-making in different conflict degrees and different types of decision tasks when making decision for self and for others. The study tries to find the relationship between choice deferral and self-other decision making in 3 experiments. And It also tries to exploring the differences of 3 variables of decision preferences: decision making difficulties, satisfaction of decision making and anticipated regret when individuals making decision for self and for others. The Results of this research are as follows:In experiment 1,the results demonstrated that:(1)Compared to making decision for self,it is more inclined to delay choice when making decision for others.(2)self-decision making is significantly differently with making decision for others in decision making preference.Compare to making decision for self, decision making difficulty is higher, the choosing satisfaction is lower and the anticipated regret is significantly lower when making decision for the other. In experiment 2,the results suggest that:(3)the decision tasks of different conflict degree would affect the tendency of individuals choice deferral.Compare to the tasks of lower conflict degree, individuals tend to choose deferral option in the task of higher conflict degree.Decision conflict and self-other decision making both have effect on choice deferral. When it comes to self-other decision making,in the tasks of lower conflict degree, individuals' choice deferral have no significant difference;in tasks of higher conflict degree,the-otherdecision making resulted in more choice of deferral options. In experiment 3,the results show that:(4)the types of decision making tasks would affect individuals' choice deferral.Compare to the simple tasks, the complex tasks result in more choice of deferral option.Decision tasks and self-other decision making both have effect on choice deferral. When it comes to self-other decision-making,in simple tasks,the-other decisionmaking would result in more choice of deferral option, while in complex tasks, there are no significant difference between self-other decision-making.This research found the differences of choice deferral in self-other decision making. And the differences would be influenced by decision conflict and decision task. The research can enrich the theories of choice deferral and self-other decision-making differences. To some extent,it may provide guidance for good decision in fields of consumption, investment and medical treatment and for government decision making on elderly care industry and environmental protection, etc.
