| This research paper provides an insightful analysis of the period of rapid urbanization of Midwestern cities in the United States, starting with an exploration of the urbanization development of Kansas City. After the rapid rise of the Industrial Revolution in the United States,Midwestern cities relied on transportation and natural conditions to develop rapidly, and the pace of development far exceeded that of the Northeast.Kansas City relied on its superior port conditions to build up its strength from trade in the early days, and after the first railroad was built into Kansas City,Kansas City entered a period of rapid urbanization, and a large number of people flocked to Kansas City in search of development opportunities, and the government expanded the city area several times in order to provide enough residential buildings. The rapid movement of people and the development of technology brought about a large number of transactions, and the rapid economic development drove the construction of the city’s infrastructure and surrounding roads.Kansas City soon became one of the major central cities in the Midwest. However,as national urbanization stalled after the Great Depression,Kansas City also entered a phase of population outflow to the periphery and expanded annexation of surrounding areas. This paper consists of three parts: the introduction, the body, and the conclusion. The introduction introduces the purpose and significance of the topic of this paper, the research methods and innovations, and the dynamics of domestic and international research on Kansas City and American urban history. The second part is the main text, which consists of three parts: the first part introduces the development of population and trade, urban construction, and other aspects of Kansas City during its early founding;the second part is divided into two parts detailing the process of urbanization in Kansas City from rapid development to stagnation in the late 19 th and early 20 th centuries and from the early 20 th century to the mid-20 th century;the third part is a review of the development of urbanization in Kansas City and Midwestern cities. The third part is a comparative study of the commonalities and differences between the development of urbanization in Kansas City and Midwestern cities in general, and an analytical consideration of the implications of urbanization in Kansas City for the region at all levels. |
