| Innovation is the immortal source of artistic progress and development.The excellent brush and ink techniques,colours and moods that have been accumulated in Chinese painting over a long period of time are models and treasures for us to study,and if we treat traditional brush and ink without innovation,we will not be able to adapt well to the aesthetic needs of the times.So both literature and art need to be new as the times progress.Kun Can is one of the ’Four Monks of the Qing Dynasty’,he took nature as his teacher,painted with his own true feelings and incorporated his own unique spirit of innovation into his paintings,advocating that he should learn from the ancients but not follow them,and that he should be bold enough to change his approach to painting,thus opening up new horizons in landscape painting.This article explores the causes of his innovative ideas and their manifestation in his paintings,fully explaining how his paintings are new and innovative from the ancient methods.In this graduation work,the author took the innovative concept with Kun Can of " drawing from the old to create the new" as a guide and used the brush to depict the new and old features of his hometown.The author drew inspiration from the Western painting techniques of flat composition and color theory to boldly innovate,striving to achieve new expressions in the creation.The author try hard to Kun Can further inherit and carry forward the innovation thought,in order to realise aim of understanding nature and expressing his state of mind in his landscape paintings. |
