Secondary vocational students are a high incidence group of Internet addiction.Internet addiction can seriously affect the physical and mental health and social function of secondary vocational students, which has become a psychological and behavioral problem to be urgently solved among secondary vocational students. With the rise and flourishing of positive psychology, the protective effect of individual positive psychological traits on Internet addiction has gradually attracted the attention of researchers. As an emerging concept from the perspective of positive psychology, intentional self-regulation plays an important role in promoting positive development and preventing the occurrence of risk/problem behaviors in adolescents. This study aims to explore the relationship between intentional self-regulation and Internet addiction in secondary vocational school students from the perspective of Relational Developmental Systems Theory, and design group counseling program to intervene in Internet addiction of secondary vocational students on the basis of this,in order to provide new ideas and methods for preventing and improving Internet addiction of secondary vocational students. This study consists of two parts. In the first study,759 secondary vocational students in a secondary vocational school in Anhui Province were investigated by using the Intentional Self-regulation Questionnaire and the Chinese Internet Addiction Scale,to understand the current situation of intentional self-regulation and Internet addiction and the differences in demographic variables, and to explore the relationship between intentional self-regulation and Internet addiction among secondary vocational school students. On the basis of study 1,study 2 selected 50 secondary vocational students with low intentional self-regulation ability and high level of Internet addiction as subjects, and randomly divided them into experimental group and control group.Eight group counseling sessions with the theme of intentional self-regulation were performed on the members of the experimental group, while the control group did not do any intervention.Through the analysis of relevant quantitative data and qualitative data obtained in the study, the intervention effects of group counseling with the theme of intentional self-regulation on intentional self-regulation and Internet addiction of secondary vocational students were explored. The conclusions are as follows:(1)The intentional self-regulation of secondary vocational students is above the medium level. The level of intentional self-regulation of class leaders is significantly higher than that of non-class leaders, the level of intentional self-regulation of only children is significantly higher than that of non-only children, and the level of intentional self-regulation of secondary vocational students whose mothers’ education level is high school/polytechnic school/technical school is significantly higher than that of secondary vocational students whose mothers’ education level is junior high school or below.(2)Internet addiction of secondary vocational students is at a moderate to low level. The level of Internet addiction of class leaders is significantly lower than that of non-class leaders, the level of Internet addiction of only children is significantly higher than that of non-only children, and the level of Internet addiction of secondary vocational school students whose parents are divorced is significantly higher than that of secondary vocational school students whose parents are not divorced.(3)The intentional self-regulation and its dimensions are significantly negatively correlated with Internet addiction and its dimensions in secondary vocational school students, and the goal selection and goal optimization dimensions of intentional self-regulation can significantly negatively predict Internet addiction of secondary vocational students.(4)Group counseling with the theme of intentional self-regulation can effectively improve the intentional self-regulation ability of secondary vocational students, and thus reduce their level of Internet addiction.
