| Trade in cultural products is an important way for international cultural exchanges, and the export competitiveness of core cultural products reflects the competitiveness and influence of a country’s culture.China has become a world trading power, but it is not a cultural power. The export competitiveness of cultural products, especially core cultural products with high cultural added value,is still far behind that of cultural powers such as the United States and the United Kingdom.Digital economy is the main force of the World Economic and social development,it has been closely integrated with all aspects of the economy and society and has also been applied to the field of international cultural trade. With the continuous advancement of the transformation and upgrading of cultural trade structure,China’s cultural trade has entered a period of stable development. The importance of export competitiveness of core cultural products has become increasingly prominent, and it is of great significance to explore the use of digital economy to empower the improvement of export competitiveness of core cultural products.Based on the data of core cultural products trade and digital economy in 25 sample countries from 2007 to 2020,this paper constructs the measurement system of national digital economy development level with the help of factor analysis. The measurement system consists of 3 first-class indicators and 12 second-class indicators, which takes the measured digital economic index as the core explanatory variable and the index of explicit comparative advantage of core cultural products as the explanatory variable.Based on the theory of national competitive advantage, the foreign direct investment, the labor stock, the per capita GDP,the openness of markets, regulatory quality and the Globalization Index were selected as control variables. This paper adopts fixed effect model to empirically explore the impact of digital economy on the export competitiveness of core cultural products. The results show that:(1)the digital economy can promote the export competitiveness of core cultural products significantly, which is still valid after the introduction of instrumental variables and substitution variables.(2)the digital economy has enhanced the export competitiveness of core cultural products in both developed and developing countries and has been more conducive to developed countries than to developing countries.(3)the digital economy has significantly enhanced the export competitiveness of performance and celebration activities, visual arts and handicrafts, but not other core cultural products.Based on the research conclusion, this paper puts forward some suggestions: strengthen the digital infrastructure construction, establish and perfect the relevant laws and regulations, develop the digital culture industry. |
