The rapid development of a new generation of information technology brought by the technological revolution, underpinned by big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, has propelled global economic globalization. The digital economy is impacting all sectors of social and economic life, bringing unprecedented changes to international trade, and its position and role in international trade are becoming increasingly prominent. In recent years,China’s cultural industry has rapidly developed into a powerful force driving economic development with its rich cultural content and innovative industrial forms. However,China’s cultural trade still has a small share in international trade. The implementation of the "Belt and Road" initiative provides a good opportunity for the development of cultural trade.Studying the relationship between the digital economic development level of trading partner countries and China’s cultural product exports can provide development suggestions for China’s cultural export enterprises, help Chinese cultural enterprises seize development opportunities in the digital age,and have practical and theoretical significance.Against this background, this thesis attempts to study the impact of the digital economic development level of "Belt and Road" countries on China’s cultural product exports.Firstly, based on the analysis of China’s cultural product export status using data at the commodity level from the World Trade Database(CEPII-BACI),it was found that China’s cultural product export volume has been overall growing in recent years with little fluctuation, but there are problems of a single export product structure and a high concentration of export countries and regions.Secondly, ten indicators were selected to construct the digital economic development level, and the principal component analysis method was used to measure the digital economic development level of "Belt and Road" countries from 2008 to 2020.It was found that the digital economic development level of countries along the route is steadily increasing, and there is a significant gap in development levels among countries. The "digital divide" between countries along the route further indicates the need to deepen exchanges and cooperation among countries.Subsequently, based on panel data from 49 countries along the route, this thesis explores the relationship between the digital economic development level of "Belt and Road" countries and China’s cultural product exports. The results show that the digital economic development level, trade partner GDP,population size, and trade openness have a positive promotion effect on China’s cultural product exports, and every 1% increase in the digital economic development level of countries along the route will promote an increase of 0.512% in China’s cultural product exports.Tariff levels between China and import countries have a negative effect.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the impact of the digital economic development level on China’s cultural product exports varies depending on different regions, income levels, and cultural products. At the regional level, the digital economic development level of Western Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States has a significant impact on increasing China’s cultural product imports, while East Asia,South Asia, and Central and Eastern Europe have not achieved good results. At the commodity level, the digital economic development level of "Belt and Road" countries significantly promotes the export of China’s visual arts and crafts, audiovisual and interactive media. Finally, based on the analysis results, corresponding suggestions are proposed for governments at all levels and relevant enterprises.Put forward suggestions to governments at all levels to strengthen cooperation, continue to promote the construction of the "the Belt and Road" digital economy, increase input in production factors in the cultural field, and strengthen international cultural exchanges and cooperation;Suggestions were put forward for relevant enterprises to strengthen internet technology support and enhance the promotion of cultural products.
