| Since the new era, military dramas have been brave enough to innovate in the development, especially in characterization, which is reflected in the creative subjects’ use of a broader artistic vision to shape a secularized and diversified image of soldiers. At present, studies on this aspect of military drama have attracted sufficient attention in the academic field, and most of them focus on aesthetic characteristics and other directions, while relatively few studies summarize the strategy of shaping heroic characters and explore new changes in heroic images from the overall dimension, which leaves a large research space for this paper. This paper focuses on the heroic characterization strategy in the original drama The White Conch, analyzing the characterization of military dramas since the 1990 s as a background, focusing on the shaping of heroic characters, the embodiment of heroic characters’ personal consciousness, and the creation of heroic sentiments, and exploring the innovations in characterization and creative techniques in The White Conch. On this basis, the thesis focuses on the horizontal comparison between The White Conch and other military dramas to summarize the artistic experience of characterization in military dramas since the new era.At the same time,it compares contemporary military dramas with other contemporary dramas,as well as military films and dramas with similar themes,to explore the current problems of characterization in military dramas and further explore the artistic growth points of contemporary military drama creation. The main part of this paper is divided into four chapters: Chapter 1explores the heroic characterization strategy of the original play The White Conch from three aspects: characterization, character motivation, and character relationship;Chapter 2 analyzes the embodiment of the heroic character’s personal consciousness, and analyzes the narrative techniques used in the original play The White Conch from two perspectives: the different and complex voices within the characters and the multiple and free perspectives in the narrative;Chapter 3 is based on the contemporary significance and aesthetic culture of the heroic image, explaining the heroic sentiment created by the original drama The White Conch from three levels: nobility, struggle and poeticization, respectively;Chapter 4 explores the breakthrough of the characterization of the original play The White Conch in terms of humanistic outlook and humanistic care from the overall dimension, and explores the current problems and development direction of the shaping of heroic characters in the present day, starting from the spirit of the times of heroic culture. |
