The study of the locality of a specific cultural space is currently the focus of cultural geographers,and the uniqueness of place has become an important topic in cultural geography research.The local traditional culture nurtured in a specific geographical situation is receiving more and more attention from the academic community.Jiaozuo’s social kinship culture,which was formed under the scenario of scattered living in the Central Plains,is listed as a representative item of provincial intangible cultural heritage and is a typical representative of local traditional folk culture,and it is of great theoretical significance and practical value to strengthen the research on the localness of Jiaozuo’s social kinship culture,to improve people’s understanding of local traditional culture,to enhance the perception and recognition of the localness of social kinship culture,and to promote the protection,inheritance and development of social kinship culture.It is of great theoretical significance and practical value.This paper focuses on the unique social kinship culture in Jiaozuo region from the perspective of human geography,and selects three groups of kinship villages with a long history and still have close contact with each other as the specific research objects,based on non-participant observation and in-depth interviews,and combines the rooting theory and textual analysis to explore the localities of the three groups of kinship villages.Based on the coding results,the local presentation of social kinship culture and the local formation mechanism of social kinship culture were explored in conjunction with the "local triadic structure theory" and the "four layers of one" theory,and the following conclusions were obtained:(1)The localities of Jiaozuo’s social kinship culture can be summarized into three main categories:geographic space,social kin interaction space,and subject perception and identity,and six sub-categories:geographic location,human environment,internal space,social kin activities,emotion,and continuation behavior.Based on the field research,three groups of social relatives,namely,Da Xin Zhuang and Yu Tai,Xi Wan and Xu Liang,and Sang Po and Liu Wan,were selected as the specific objects of the study,and the localities of the three groups of social relatives were excavated through coding analysis of the interview data,and the three-level coding categories of the three groups of social relatives were obtained.After the common analysis of the localities of the three groups of social relatives,three core categories were identified,namely,geographical space,social kin interaction space,and subject perception and identity.The sub-categories corresponding to the core categories are geographical location(relative location,transportation conditions),human environment(livelihood needs,cultural traditions of social kinship,social kinship origins),internal space(friendly atmosphere,social kinship symbols,activity places),social kinship activities(village committee mutual visits,mutual condolences,interpersonal interactions,cultural activities),emotions(intimate,tolerance,enthusiasm,recognition,kinship as a family),and continuing behavior(propaganda,teaching by example,passing on from generation to generation).(2)The unique geographical location is the local foundation for the formation of social kinship culture,the specific place space is the specific environment and way of social kinship culture exhibition,and the local attachment and identity of social kinship subjects to the kinship villages are manifested as the emotional attachment and continuation behavior of social kinship culture subjects.The coding results of social kinship culture verify Agnew’s theory of local triadic structure,and the three core categories of social kinship culture locality,geographic space,social kinship interaction space,and subject perception and identity correspond to local location conditions,place space,emotional experience and local identity of each subject,respectively.Therefore,with the help of the triadic structure theory of place,we can analyze the local presentation of Jiaozuo’s social kinship culture from three dimensions: location,place and sense of place.Among them,location is the local foundation of social kinship culture,which is mainly expressed by the geographical location,natural environment and transportation conditions of Jiaozuo area and each kinship village.The place is the specific environment and way of social kinship culture performance,which is the synthesis of various relationships constructed by the interaction between the social kinship subject and the local environment,and its more prominent role is to provide the field of social kinship interaction activities.The sense of place is the emotional attachment and continuity behavior of social kinship subjects,which emphasizes the local attachment and identity of multiple groups to the villages where social kinship relationships exist.(3)The unique geographical location,local practices based on the need for survival,the promotion by various governments at all levels,and the historical and cultural values and the identity of multiple subjects are the important mechanisms for the formation of the locality of social kinship culture in Jiaozuo.By analyzing the interview data and documents related to social kinship,we found that the formation of Jiaozuo’s social kinship culture was contributed by multiple factors such as nature,livelihood,system and ideology.At the natural level,the unique geographical location of Jiaozuo region and the unique geographical environment of the kinship villages provide the possibility for the formation of social kinship.At the level of livelihood,the formation of social kinship culture is closely related to the livelihood activities of villagers in each kinship village,and from the perspective of the reasons for kinship,the need for survival is particularly important in the formation of social kinship culture localities,and the production and living practices arising from the need for survival are fundamental to the formation of social kinship relationships.At the institutional level,the development of "Yu Xin socio-kinship" in the new era is constantly receiving attention from governments at all levels,and the promotion of the system is mainly reflected in the "Yu Xin socio-kinship",including the affirmation of the state,the support of the provincial and municipal governments,and the regulation of counties and villages.At the ideological level,the formation of the localization of social kinship culture depends on the cultural tradition of social kinship,the emotional memory and local concept of villagers,and the cultural identity of multiple subjects.The four levels rely on each other,influence each other,and form an organic whole by linking each other,and together they contribute to the formation and development of the locality of social kinship culture in Jiaozuo.
