In the Plan for a Strong Army in Basic Education in the New Era,jointly issued by the Ministry of Education and eight other departments on 14 April 2022,it is proposed that the goal of the country’s future teaching force construction is to train a number of master’s level primary and secondary school teachers and education leaders.Whether out of the need to reform China’s higher education or in response to the requirements of building a teaching force in primary and secondary schools,education internships,as an important part of teacher education,are an This is an important way to achieve these goals.The aim of this study is to gain an in-depth understanding of the current situation of educational internships and the aspects of educational internships that need to be optimised,and to propose relevant reform measures for the optimisation of educational internships in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.The purpose of this study is to gain an in-depth understanding of the current situation of the M.Ed.The research questions of this study are:(1)What is the current situation of the M.Ed.in English education internship?(2)What are the problems that restrict the development of educational internships for MA in English education? With the support of relevant theoretical foundations,the author combined quantitative and qualitative research and adopted the research methods of questionnaire survey,interview,classroom observation and internship text analysis to investigate the educational internships of a total of 78 M.Ed.students majoring in subject teaching(English)in two universities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.Questionnaires,classroom observations,semi-structured interviews and textual analysis were used to understand the current situation of the M.Ed.in English education in terms of preparation for,process of,and evaluation after the internship,and the types of lessons observed were listening,reading,grammar,writing and exercises.The study used Excel and statistical software SPSS27.0 to analyse and process the data.The study found that the current situation of the MA in English education internship is:(1)The preparation work before the education internship is more abundant.(2)The links of educational internship are more complete.(3)The guidance and supervision of educational internships are generally good.(4)The evaluation mechanism of educational internship is fair and objective.The following problems also exist in the M.Ed.in English education internship:(1)The problems of the M.Ed.in English education students themselves.They are mainly manifested in the lack of reflective power of internship students and the deviation between teaching theory and practice in classroom teaching.(2)Problems of the master’s universities.They are mainly manifested in the lack of practical courses and the short time allocated for educational internship.(3)Problems of the internship base.It is mainly manifested in the insufficient frequency of guidance by instructors,etc.Accordingly,the educational internship suggestions put forward by the author are: from the aspect of Master of English Education,Master of English Education should enhance the reflective power of teaching,improve the teaching practice ability and improve the subjective initiative.From the aspect of the master’s university,the university should highlight the practical courses and extend the time of educational internship.From the aspect of the internship base,the internship base should strengthen the guidance work of instructors,improve the management and supervision work as well as optimize the internship content of the MA in English education in the internship base.In a certain sense,this study provides a basis for relevant research on educational internships,and also provides ideas for improving the current situation of educational internships for MA in English education. |
